This research article examines the significance of maritime security, as one most recent axioms international relations and diplomacy. It focuses on socioeconomic factors that contribute to insecurity along Lake Victoria's Homa Bay shores. In order determine outcome, a qualitative approach an exploratory design were used in unveiling problem under consideration. Individuals organizations/institutions from Bay’s Region site target population. The has employed purposive sampling technique saturation principle obtain sample size 36 participants: 12 for in-depth interviews 4 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) 6 members each. study also interviews, focus groups, observation collect data. According findings, main Illegal, Unregulated, Unreported (IUU) fishing issues Victoria, County are unauthorized fishing, criminal gangs pirates, encroachment by foreign fishers, employment minors/children use prohibited gears methods, young, endangered, protected fish species. Furthermore, IUU is endangering stocks County. its results recommends more patrol officers guard waters prevent illegal fishers roaming freely.
